International update: Global Covid infections near 34 million with 1,014,291 fatalities

Global: The global coronavirus death toll is 1,014,291 according to researchers at Johns Hopkins University. Covid-19 infections are nearing 34 million world wide.
US: Coronavirus cases in the US increased 0.6% as compared with the same time Tuesday to 7.23 million, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg News. Deaths rose to 206,959.
India: India reported another 86,821 coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total confirmed number to 6.31 million, government data showed. Covid-19 related deaths rose to 98,678.
Coronavirus super-spreaders were behind the explosion of Covid-19 in India, researchers said. One in 15 Indians have been exposed.
UK: The UK on Wednesday recorded more than 7,000 cases of Covid-19 for the second day running: the two highest daily tallies since the start of the pandemic.
Research conducted by Imperial College London using the results from England’s largest community coronavirus testing programme suggests that the rate of infection has decreased in the country, but that the number of infections has increased “substantially”.
Australia: In Australia, the state of Victoria has recorded 15 new cases of coronavirus and two more fatalities, bringing the state’s death toll to 800 and the national figure to 888.
